Fifths

Fifths is the quantizer that I miss on every synthesizer I use that doesn’t have it. I originally made it for monome crow, you can check out that version in a demo here. The basics: inputs get quantized to the major scale and moving the main knob on the Workshop Computer takes whatever the current melody is and transposes it around the circle of fifths based on the position of the knob.

This means that all movements of the main knob change the harmony and play some notes that weren’t in the previous key but because the closer keys are to each other on the circle of fifths the more notes they have in common, the transpositions are super musical.

I have fond memories building the original of laughing out loud running a Turing Machine sequence through Fifths with a dense 16th note pattern, then moving the key center around and feeling like it sounded like the Mother-32 was trying to do an impression of Charlie Parker or something.
